MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories - Volumes XL to XLII - Author Interviews - David MacGregor

Posted by Steve Emecz on

Today we talk to David MacGregor who appears in Part XLI: 1887-1894 currently on Kickstarter as part of the MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories XL to XLII campaign.

What’s the name of your story in the collection?
The Amateur Mendicant Society

How did the story come about?
In "The Five Orange Pips," Arthur Conan Doyle referenced The Amateur Mendicant Society as an unwritten case of Sherlock Holmes. I happen to belong to a Sherlock scion society called The Amateur Mendicant Society of Detroit, and it made perfect sense to make an attempt to turn Conan Doyle's reference into a full-fledged story.

Have you written any other Holmes Stories?

Yes, The Holmes-Adler Mysteries is a trilogy which starts in London in 1888. The notorious and as-yet undiscovered genius, Vincent van Gogh, presents Sherlock Holmes with a most unusual case. Originally stage plays that have been performed in the USA. the books have also been translated and released in Italian as part of the Il Giallo Mondadori Sherlock collection.

Have you contributed to anthologies before?
Yes! This is my fourth contribution to these anthologies.
