Sherlockian Interview - Martin Daley

Posted by Steve Emecz on

To celebrate the Kickstarter for Volumes 46-48 of the MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories we're interview the contributors.

Today it's Martin Daley.

Tell us a little about yourself – Where you live and your main hobbies

Although I am English, my wife and I moved over the Border eighteen months ago from our home city of Carlisle to the beautiful Galloway Coast of South West Scotland. When I’m not writing, I spend most of my time reading, cycling, wild swimming, playing my guitar and studying French.

What’s the name of your story in this collection, and what is it about (with no spoilers)?

My story in the latest anthology is entitled, The Perfect Spy. Holmes may be retired, but his powers are not forgotten by those in authority, who begin to tread a well-worn path to his door during the decade following. This culminates in the Prime Minister himself asking for his assistance after the government realise that state secrets are being passed to the Germans.  Reluctantly, Holmes agrees to help, but in order to do so, he himself requests the assistance of someone he believes will act as an ideal secret agent.

What other projects have you recently completed that we can check out?

In November last year, my own anthology The Selected Cases of Doctor Watson was published (MX Publishing). I am currently ghost-writing a book on the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
