Sherlockian Interview - David MacGregor
Posted by Steve Emecz on
With the upcoming launch of volumes 43-45 of The MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories (currently on Kickstarter), we're talking to the authors involved. Today (2nd April) it's David MacGregor.
Tell us a little about yourself – Where you live and your main hobbies.
I live in Michigan, about an hour from Detroit, where I teach writing classes at Wayne State University. I am a professional playwright. play soccer and golf, and specialize in keeping a Scottish Terrier (MacDuff) and a West Highland Terrier (Boswell) happy.
What’s the name of your story in this collection, and what is it about (with no spoilers)?
My story is "Death of a Mudlark." Mudlarking is an activity practiced on the banks of the Thames River, where the tides regularly deposit a wide variety of modern and ancient artifacts on the foreshore. It can be a fascinating, profitable, and occasionally deadly activity.
What other projects have you recently completed that we can check out?
My newest full-length play, The Antichrist Cometh, premiered earlier this year at The Purple Rose Theatre in Michigan. It's a dark comedy about a regular, everyday chap, who begins to suspect that he might be the Antichrist.
I also have three Sherlock Holmes plays appearing in various parts of the world this year (e.g., Louisiana, Texas, Colorado, and New Zealand).
