Sherlockian Author Profile - Paula Hammond

Posted by Steve Emecz on

The next three volumes of the MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories are due in November and fans can get big discounts and unique rewards in the Volume XXII-XIV Kickstarter.

Each day we'll be highlighting one of the dozens of authors of the 64 new stories in the new volumes.

Today is Paula Hammond (Paula Hammond's Amazon profile here)

Paula's story - "The Case of the Impossible Assassin"
My story takes the tale of the Sultan of Turkey as its inspiration. While the oblique reference that’s made to the case in "The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier” has always intrigued me, it was really the opportunity to have Holmes and Watson travel on the Orient Express that made my fingers itch to write my story. I also loved the idea that detective fiction was hugely popular in Turkey during this period. The Sultan himself was one of the earliest-known Holmes devotees in the  Empire and it was fun to imagine how he might feel about Holmes and Watson actually visiting.

Paula's favourite Holmes quote is:

“What you do in this world is a matter of no consequence. The question is what can you make people believe you have done.”

"A Study in Scarlet"
