Sherlock Book Review - Of Course He Pushed Him

Sherlockian Pasticheur and scholar Chris Chan first appeared on the scene just a few years ago, but since then he’s steadily made a name for himself both in the analysis of the original Sherlock Holmes stories, as seen in his 2020 book Sherlock & Irene: The Secret Truth Behind “A Scandal in Bohemia”, and when literary-agenting new Holmes adventures – usually in anthologies by the leaders in Sherlockian publishing, MX Publishing and Belanger Books. Now those short stories have been collected in his new book, Of Course He Pushed Him.

The title comes from one of the six stories in the second half of the book, “Crossovers and Alternative Histories”. These tales are billed as being outside the traditional Canon, but actually, most of them are completely Canonical, and they would fit well with the seven stories in the first half of the book, “Traditional and Sherlockian Pastiches”.

These are worthy additions to The Great Holmes Tapestry, and fortunately Chris Chan has already been writing more stories since these were collected. I’m looking forward to seeing what makes up his next volume.

Of Course He Pushed Him and other Sherlock Holmes Stories is available from this site with a share going to our #bookstobooks program funding books for Happy Life Mission in Kenya - but also from all good bookstores (links on the book pages).
