The Artist
Andrea Perez Bessin grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Andrea moved to Rhode Island to attend Brown University where they acquired a degree in Biology. On their last semester, an introductory visual arts course inspired a change in vocation. Pérez Bessin enrolled in Rhode Island College and graduated in December 2017 with a BFA in Printmaking.
Recent recognitions include Art New England Magazine’s 2018 10 Emerging Artists and the 2019 Rhode Island State Council of the Arts Fellowship in Drawing and Printmaking. Andrea currently works and lives in Newport, RI.
The Story
Andrea's piece for The Art of Sherlock Holmes USA is based on the story 'The Adventure of Vittoria, The Circus Belle' by Tracy Revels. Tracy is a professor of history at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, has been a Sherlockian since age eleven. She is a member of the Survivors of the Gloria Scott, the Studious Scarlets Society, and the Priory Teachers Association. Along with her contributions to the MX Books of New Sherlock Holmes Stories, she has a trio of supernatural themed pastiches: Shadowfall, Shadowblood, and Shadowwraith.
The piece has been released as an authenticated print by the Conan Doyle Estate.
