Kareem Abdul-Jabbar joins the MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories

Posted by Steve Emecz on

The MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories is the largest collection of its kind in the world with over 150 Sherlock Holmes writers participating. The project has raised over $50,000 so far for Stepping Stones School for children with learning disabilities which is based at Undershaw, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's former home. All participating authors donate their royalties to the school.

Mr. Abdul-Jabbar joins a who's who of Sherlockians and NY Times bestselling authors who have taken part including; Nicholas Meyer, Lee Child, Bonnie MacBird, Lyndsay Faye, Les Klinger, Jonathan Kellerman and many more. He contributes a foreword to Volumes XVI, XVII and XVIII.

What unites the writers is two things. A wonderful cause in Stepping Stones (read more here....) and a desire to preserve the traditional legacy of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. With a myriad of modern adaptations, all the writers taking part believe there is still a place for traditional pastiches written in the original Conan Doyle style.

The scale of the project is incredible. Originally planned as a book of just 26 stories, it has snowballed into eighteen volumes (so far, next year's are already underway) with over 150 participating writers. There are more than 8,000 pages and over 350 new stories.

Fans can take part in a special Kickstarter campaign to get exclusive first edition, pre-publication copies of the books - (MX Collection on Kickstarter) during August.

You can keep up with the latest news from MX Publishing on Facebook , Twitter, and Instagram. If you'd like to take on Sherlock Holmes every month in a new case through the post, try Dear Holmes.
