Sherlock Book Review - Tales of Light, Shadow, and Darkness - Tracy Revels

Tracy Revels entered the Sherlockian literary world by way of a short volume of Holmes parodies, a three-volume series in which Holmes is a magical member of the wizarding world, and an excellent online Christmas pastiche written in the traditional and correct manner about the True Holmes. From this, she was invited to participate in “The MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes stories”, and she never looked back, becoming one of the most prolific contributors. Since then, she has shared dozens of excellent Canonical adventures with happy readers, and now these have been collected into three volumes – “Tales of Light”, “Tales of Shadow”, and “Tales of Darkness”. Additionally, all three shorter collections can be found in a wonderful one-volume hardcover omnibus.
When writing, Revels moves from light-hearted Holmes adventures to more serious and then tragic, and back again, and these three collections sort the stories into those themes, depending upon what mood the reader is in.
Since these books were published, Revels has already written quite a few more for additional MX anthologies, and she’ll likely soon have enough for a fourth volume. Let the guessing game begin as to which “Tales of” this book will be titled. Highly recommended.
