We're halfway through November and the top five audiobooks is a mix of old favourites and new titles. Denis Smith is back at #1 with The Six-Thirteen from Fairfield Junction but it's a brand new book, Robert V Stapleton's Gravesend Gryphon that has jumped in at #3. The Historical Novel Society The characters under scrutiny in this volume are wonderfully varied. We have Jack the Ripper rubbing shoulders with Eva Braun and in one delightful sequence, Winston Churchill haggles with the Tax Inspector in an attempt to lessen his bill. The characterisations of the familiar persons who enrich Mr Pearson’s pages (Dr Watson and Mycroft Holmes, etc.) are respectfully and appropriately delivered to us and add hugely to the appeal of this book, making it a worthy addition to any “books about books” collection.
