Thank Holmes It's Friday - End of Year 2025
As we approach the end of 2025, we want to take a moment to thank you—the fans, readers, and listeners—who keep the game afoot.
It’s been an incredible year for Sherlock Holmes. We’ve seen a massive surge in digital storytelling and a renewed love for physical books—highlighted by the release of the final volumes of the MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories. That brings this record-breaking collection to a total of 52 volumes!
But even more important is the real-world difference you’ve made. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve now raised over $135,000 for the Undershaw school, helping kids with special educational needs in the former home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle himself. On top of that, our community has provided thousands of meals for people in need through the Share The Meal campaign. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.
The Return of the Printed Page
For the first time in four years, print sales have returned to growth, and it’s heartening to see our local bookstores thriving once again. While ebooks continue to hold their own, audio remains our fastest-growing medium, ensuring the Great Detective is your constant companion—whether on a morning commute or a late-night vigil.
New Additions to the Canon
In 2025, we launched more than forty new books. We were thrilled to introduce fresh voices like Ken Courtenay and Joanne Reinbold, while celebrating new collections from seasoned favourites including David Marcum, Denis Smith, and Dan Victor.
Our audio library is also fast catching up. Of the 600 Sherlock Holmes titles we have in print, nearly 500 are now available in audio. We’ve added six new titles this December alone and have a limited number of free codes to give away - first come first serve.
Breaking Records and Giving Back
May 2025 marked a truly historic milestone in Sherlockian history: the completion of the MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories. With the release of Volumes 49 through 52, this collection now stands as a world-record-breaking achievement, featuring over 1,000 stories from 200 contributors. More importantly, it is a project with a heart; the collection has raised over $135,000 for the Undershaw School, providing vital support for students with special educational needs at the former home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
With the collection now spanning a monumental 52 volumes, we want to ensure that owning this entire library is more accessible than ever. To achieve this, we are launching a brand-new Digital Subscription service this January. While our popular monthly Paperback and Hardcover subscriptions will continue to serve those who love a full bookshelf, this digital option will open up the world’s largest collection of new Holmes adventures to new audiences.
The Spirit of Giving: Impact Beyond Baker Street
Our passion for Sherlock Holmes has always brought us together as a community, but this year that connection has achieved something even more significant. Through our partnership with the World Food Programme’s ShareTheMeal project, we’ve donated a meal for every book sold on our website. Because of your support, we have been able to provide over 2,700 meals to those in need.
Looking ahead to next year, we are taking this a step further. Our upcoming book, #DisruptHunger, details the work of the WFP Innovation Accelerator. It’s currently on Kickstarter, and we’re aiming to raise enough to provide tens of thousands of meals. It’s a project that demonstrates how our community can turn a love for stories into something truly meaningful for those in need.
