The Sherlockian Interview - Derrick Belanger

Posted by Steve Emecz on

The final four volumes (49-52) of The MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories are now on Kickstarter (click here). Every day we will be featuring one of the authors in the collection. Today its Derrick Belanger.

What’s the name of your story in the collection?

The Adventure of the Disgraced Baron

How did the story come about?

Baron Sully goes to Holmes asking him to solve the mystery of the identity of the person who tarnished his name and reputation. A Woman’s magazine published suggestive photos of the Baron with two young ladies. Who would want to ruin the baron’s reputation and end his engagement to the Lady Gordon? Find out in this mystery inspired by one of Shakespeare’s famous tragedies.

Have you contributed to anthologies before?

Yes, I’ve had several stories in this excellent series. I’m quite pleased to find that I had a story in the first volume (The Case of the Vanished killer) and will now have a story in the final volume as well.

Where did you first discover Holmes?

I read A Study in Scarlet when I was in 8th grade. I loved the book so much that I went and read all the Holmes stories after I finished it.

Do you write on any other subjects?

Yes, I’ve written quite a few nonfiction articles in Sherlock Holmes journals as well as education journals. I also dabble in horror and science fiction as well.

Where can fans find more about your work?

Belangerbooks.com is my publishing company website. We've published over 100 Sherlock Holmes books as well as books in other genres. It is currently being updated but will soon have all of my works listed.  Also, going to my Amazon page is a good way to find my other books.
