It’s elementary to wear a mask to reduce the spread of #COVID19

The speed of innovation in print-on-demand is quite wonderful to behold. This week Redbubble launched print on demand masks enabling artists to create their own designs on the fly. For those already merchandising prints, t-shirts, mugs, pillows and dozens of other products.   This is a great opportunity to make wearing a mask cool, and very personalised. The example above is one of our Art of Sherlock Holmes pieces - 'The Woman Returns' a beautiful painting from Christina Major created from a story written by Richard Paolinelli. The story and art appear in the 2nd Art of Sherlock Holmes book...

Sherlock Book Review - Dead Ringers

"This is a compilation of short adventures that appeared previous in numerous Holmes anthologies by multiple publishers.  Some of the early stories have terrific premises, such as a mysterious ancient tablet that can mystically answer questions.  Many of the later narratives are a bit more experimental in tone, such as the retelling of a critical scene from A Study in Scarlet, told from the perspective of the killer.  This is an intriguing collection which attempts to provide a fresh understanding of the Holmes universe through new approaches." In The Adventure of the Solitary Cyclist, this is used to describe the Landlord of the country pub where he goes to glean information. “I was in the bar, and a garrulous landlord was giving me all that I wanted.” Gadabout - a person who is constantly seeing pleasure. An insult thrown at Holmes...

A-Z of Sherlockian Phraseology - Here are a couple of "F's"

An extract from 'The Adventure of the Wordy Companion: An A-Z guide to Sherlockian Phraseology' by Nicko Vaughan Here are just five of the 'F's referenced in Nicko's Wordy Companion: Forenoon - as the name suggests, something which precedes Afternoon and is really just another word for late morning. In The Adventure of the Solitary Cyclist, this is the time of day when Miss Violet Smith rides her bike. “You must know that every Saturday forenoon I ride on my bicycle to Farnham Station in order to get the 12.22 to town.”     Fog-girt – girt means to be surrounded...
