The Sherlockian Interview - Paul W. Nash

Posted by Steve Emecz on

The final four volumes (49-52) of The MX Book of New Sherlock Holmes Stories are now on Kickstarter (click here). Every day we will be featuring one of the authors in the collection. Today its Paul W. Nash.

What’s the name of your story in the collection?

The Killing of Lady Grace Everley

How did the story come about?

It was inspired by events in Europe late last century which many readers will remember, and the attitudes of the press and public to a certain celebrated Lady. I wondered what Holmes would have made of the case and, if there was a murderer, or a killer at any rate, upon the scene, whom Holmes would have conisdered that killer to be.

Have you contributed to anthologies before?

Yes, I had a story in volume XI (‘The adventure of the Paradol Chamber’) and have also published my own collection of new stories, The remains of Sherlock Holmes.

Where did you first discover Holmes?

In my teenage years I read the short stories and heard several radio adaptations, and later was delighted by the Jeremy Brett adaptations on the television.

Do you write on any other subjects?

Yes, I have written general fiction and science fiction for some years, and hoped in my youth to become a professional novelist. I have also written a good deal of non-fiction, in the areas of bibliography, bibliophily and printing history.

Where can fans find more about your work?

I have a website at paulwnash.co.uk and a Facebook page for my Holmes pastiches at Paul Nash on Facebook.
