This issue begins with a somber note, as we dedicate it to one of our most prolific and beloved writers, Harry DeMaio, who sadly passed away recently.
Harry's contribution to Sherlockian fiction was immense, publishing dozens of books with MX Publishing alone, and his work was brilliantly summarized by the Sherlock Holmes Society of London as "Ingenious, exciting and very funny." He created two phenomenal series, the most expansive of which was The Casebooks of Octavius Bear (running to twenty-one novels). This brilliantly unique series introduces super-sleuth Octavius Bear—a nine-foot-tall, 1,400-pound Kodiak bear and scientist, whom Harry himself described as a masterful blend of Sherlock Holmes and Nero Wolfe. Crucially, don't be fooled by the animal characters! This series is a clever, sophisticated twist on the detective genre, swapping humans for anthropomorphic animals in a modern world "minus homo sapiens," while delivering complex and engaging mysteries.
